white oak burl pepper mill and goblet

i have had my eyes on this burl for years on the grounds i hunt on. after the gypsy moths wreaked havoc on the forest, i decided it was time to take it down. she weighed i would guess around 300 + lbs. its a WHITE OAK and has some amazing figure in it with little to no bark inlay. this wood is by far the hardest wood i have ever worked with. it took my tools and made it well its Bi**h if you know what i mean. i turned the pepper mill for my aunt and uncle for his help building a cabinet that i recently finished. he also has a smaller salt grinder i turned which i have to get pictures. the goblet i turned for my mother some time back because i have no patience and wanted to see if it would warp and twist like the other one i turned for her. and also wanted to see the grain pattern. well it didn't but i am happy it didn't check on me!

Nice looking wood. If it's too hard for you to turn, I'd be happy to take some off your hands (sarcasm)

That bowl was perfect right up until that last cut...
