What is it?

Yeah, I know it is a bowl..... What kind of wood is it?

I can tell you this. I purchased it as a blank from the local woodcraft. It was labeled as mystery wood.

It is my first attempt as a bowl. I like the look but am uncertain what type of wood it is. Hopefully some of you experts will be able to look at it and tell the type.

I am not any kind of expert on identifying wood, but spalted maple was my first thought also. I have a bowl I made last year that looks very similar and was a piece of spalted maple.
