Walnut bowl

This one turned out a bit better than the last with no surprises. I got this blank with a stack of others at a local logging company that cuts up blanks for the local woodturners. Its a piece of walnut from the crotch of the tree, so it had a nice feather pattern in the middle. It 15" in diameter by 3" tall. Finished with danish oil.

Nice bowl! I still have to learn to finish a bowl without a tenon.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Reverse chuck or jamb chuck to finish the bottom.

That bowl was perfect right up until that last cut...

Dave,
I have a Vicmark with the 2" dovetail jaws and also a set of 5" dovetail jaws. I also have a set of bowl jaws for it that I use to finish the bottom with. This bowl was too big for the bowl jaws to grab it on the outside of the rim, so I used the same jaws to grab the inside edge of the rim in an expansion mode. Worked well that way.
