turning pens

i was wondering if i could turn pens on full size 12" i think lathe. i dont want to go buy a pen lathe but i have a big full size one

yes you can turn pens on a full size lathe (12" dia. meaning over the bed). you don't need a mini to turn pens. hope to see your first pen soon. you just need to know your morse taper in the head stock for pen mandel size.

i gonna turn one in school and hopefully a duck call too. i need to get my chisels sharpened for my lathe

I've been turning some pens on a full sized lathe. The only issue might be that your tool rest is too long to fit between the head and tailstock as close as you want to the wood. I'd recommend a 6" tool rest.
