Turning hooks and needles for a Beginner?

Ok, so I'm 'hooked'!
I'm ready to dive in and make my own crochet hooks and knitting needles
Primarily I want to start giving as gifts so my family has something to remember me by, when I depart on my trip to heaven.
From what I understand using the Jett is a good beginning point with the beginners tools.
Can anyone give me a link of the turning instuctions for hooks and needles?
Any and All suggestions are Welcomed
