Question strong, shiny finishes to put on bowls?

for small turnings i use superglue, i tried to use it on a 8 inch bowl today and it worked but i used a lot of superglue and it took quite a long time.
does anyone know a finish that is quick and easy to apply and gives the wood a nice shine?
thanks

Mike,
I use lacquer quite a bit now. I use my old white tube socks to wipe it on. It dries quickly so you can put on four or five coats in no time. You can get it in a quart can at home depot in different finishes, satin, semi-gloss, and gloss. If you are working inside the house, then I would use something less flamable, like polyurethane or deft.
