hi have a record dml 36 and it has 4 speeds ranging from 500 to 2000 want to reduce the speed of the chuck to around 250 for some jobs any ideas

I am no expert, but I think you'll have to change your pulley sizes to get different speeds. You may want to post this in the tools section, there are a lot of folks there that don't frequent this section as much that may have an answer.
