please could you explain how you torched the wood without burning it so much you couldnt stain it
did you just hold it far away from the flame and pass it over the bowl quickly or did you torch the whole thing and partly sand the bottom of the insider to bring out the lighter colour?

All of the outside was finished first and then I dyed the bowl. Then I ran the torch around it, it doesn't really take much. I hold it just short of the hottest part of the flame.
