Hey guys. So I've been stepping out of my bowl making box a bit lately. I started out making a tea candle holder. I had been wanting to try this for a long time and finally decided to go for it. It's obviously really simple. It's mahogany.

Then I decided to try Christmas ornaments again. Some of you may remember I had posted awhile back about how to make these. Well, I took those pointers and came up with with this. pretty simple, I only have standard size tools, I feel like smaller ones would help so much more with these.

Then I got experimental, I'm not exactly sure what I was intending to accomplish with this one, personally it looks too much like a q-tip. I think I was going for a teardrop style ornament but it turned out terrible. The above and below are both maple.

And then I decided to re-attempt a teardrop style ornament. This time I decided to use a pen blank, since it was close to the size I wanted and I had a lot of boring ones. This is walnut, and in my opinion a much better teardrop. I think light colored woods would be better for christmas trees though.

Lastly This is another one of the blanks that Phinds (Paul) gave me. I am still so grateful for these blanks, they are just gorgeous. This time I used a lacquer finish, vs. the oil and poly finish on the last bowl which ruined the finish. (still haven't fixed it yet)

That's it for the time being. I also attended a demo by Andy DiPietro this morning. Talk about awesome! He is well known for his sandblasting and dyeing techniques. He revealed all at the demo too, learned a ton, can't wait to get some money so I can experiment a little. Thanks for looking and let me know what you guys think.
