rough turned bowls

I scored some wood while in Atlanta this weekend. Ornamental cherry and Apple. I finish turned the top 2 on the left and rough turned 6 more. I coated the rest with wax or endgrain sealer.

John,
That looks like too much wood for one man to turn. I think you better get rid of some of it.Looks like some nice stuff. Are these all pretty fresh cut? I just got a bunch of buckeye logs just cut from my brother-in-law tonight. Just finished sealing the ends. They range from 6-8" in diameter, most about two feet long. Do you have one of the coring tools?

Whoa! Looks like Santa left some wood in your chimney early! Ok now you did it, we'll be expecting pictures of all these bowls, you realize? Have fun, John.

I don't have a coring tool. I've never been interested in them. I don't turn a lot of bowls and usually like to have the option of changing the shape if the wood dictates it. This did. I changed 2 of them after I started turning and saw how the wood color was oriented. Most of the wood I get is free so saving the middle doesn't worry me. If I ever get a really cheap buy on a coring machine I might try it out. Or if by some miracle I get a 16" block of Pink Ivory then I might buy one.
I am thinking about making one of the straight boring cutters to cone out the interior on some larger projects. Mostly just to reduce the amount of shavings that get all over the shop. Disposing of shavings is still a problem for me.
