welcome to the forum, Robert. what part of the country are you in ?

do you have the lathe in your possession ?
or - are you looking to purchase one.

if you are trying to sell or find info on one that you have,
as with any equipment question, as much information as possible
will get you the most accurate responses.
such as: model number, several photos, etc.

Didn't know Sorby made lathes. Available in the USA?

Looks a bit like a Record lathe I saw for sale recently on Craigs list here in the States. I don't think Sorby would put his name on anything cheap or low quality. Although Sorby is not bashful about asking prices.

If you do a search for "Sorbey Lathe Review" a couple forums come up where the consensus is to look for something else, there are always deals on good used woodworking lathes.
