Oak vase/vessel

I thought I'd try something different with a big 12x12 piece of fresh cut oak I had. I liked the shape while it was on the lathe but when I brought it in the house and looked at it awhile it just left me cold. 2 days later it warped like crazy, and now I like it. This is the most dramatic shape change I've experienced. There's a 2.75" difference in width vs depth. It's 12.25w x 9.5d x 8.5"h.
Honest thoughts are appreciated. I have no pride attached to this one, just an experiment.

I like it! Looks like a baby birds mouth waiting for mom to feed it.

That bowl was perfect right up until that last cut...

This is one of the few times in my opinion where the warping really adds a lot to the turning. I think it looks really visually pleasing now. Good work!

Thanks. I just wiped on one coat if tung oil based finish before bringing it in to dry. I think I'm just going to leave it as is.
