Oak Burls

I have some Qak Burls I trimmed off trees on my farm and someone told me they were not good for turning. Are they too hard, or what is the problem?

Oak burls are great for turning. Like any other burls, some are better than others. They tend to be hard but turn just fine while wet. Once dry it is slower going but a nice oak burl is more than worth the trouble.

This was turned from a small oak burl. If there is a reason they are no good for turning I'm sure someone will come along and enlighten us.
