My Oak burl bowl

Here is one I just finished from a burl I cut off last summer. It's got some real crazy figure in it. It turned pretty easy though. It's about 7 1/2" x 2". It's got 6 coats of WOP.

Gorgeous wood, nicely turned.

You can never have too much pepperoni on your pizza or own too many clamps.

Donny,
Hard to believe that came off an oak tree. Nice piece. Looks like it would make a great looking ashtray.

Beautiful find you have there, very nice looking bowl.

I want to die quietly in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers of his car.

A beautiful example of turning a tree inside out.....

What's WOP finish? (wipe on poly?)
Do you apply while spinning?

Learning more about tools everyday

WOP is Minwax Wipe on Poly. After the bowl is sanded to 600 grit I use a small piece of a T-shirt and (4"square) and saturate the cloth and wipe the piece down well. If I put the first coat on in the morning I can add another one late in the evening. I usually add about 6 coats. Lightly sand in between coats with 600 grit just enough to smooth the finish.

WOP is not added while on the lathe.
