My first spindles

The guys needed a new handle for one of my drills and I had some what I beleive is ash laying arround and thought hmmm let's give it a try. I am definitely a novice but Richard Raffan got me through it. The work peice was 12" long so I decided to do the top at the same time while it was still in tact.
oops forgot pic

One of my very first lathe projects in high school was a handle for a hand made tool holder that I still use today, and that was 15 years ago. Now that I've gotten back to lathe work it's amazing how addictive it is compared to some of my other woodworking!

I want to die quietly in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers of his car.
