Mostava Plates

Turned these over the last coupla days...

Showed the wife, "Look, I turned a plate"...

She said, "Well, most of a plate, anyway".

Maple burl, +/- 10" dia.

...ever notice how "I'm sorry" and "I apologize" mean the same thing, unless you are at a funeral..?

Finished with WOP, then spray-on poly...
Can't tell from my crappy pics but, the grooves on the faces are done in satin...
Really nice effect.
Haven't decided if'n I'll try to fill all the finish defects or not...

That is absolutely gorgeous. I just love the grain and the imperfections in the shape of the plates gives so much character. It must be a challenge when turning something like this, not to get a catch while turning around the unfinished areas. This is awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing these.
