Making A Screw Chuck

Has anyone made a screw chuck? I want one for stoppers. I was thinking about making a 2" disk to be held in my chuck, then putting a screw through it. I'm a little hung up on how to get it dead center though. Any thoughts?

I thought I wanted a career, turns out I just wanted paychecks.

Chuck the screw end first and turn the disk to center. Then turn it around and use it.

also be selective on your choice of screw. Ideally wide or large pitch spacing on your screw threads. As coarse a thread from as your job can tolerate. Check out a few professional ones to get the idea or better get one.

Hi Hughie,

Just bought a screw chuck from Ruth Niles http://www.torne-lignum.com/index.html. It workes really well. It is mounted on a #2 morse taper and is made to be mounted in your 4 jaw chuck. Also the chuck is made so it will thread the ornament to 3/8 X 16 which is the standard thread used in most stopper units.
