Likes and dislikes

Has anyone bought the new Delta vs midi lathe yet? Tell me about your likes and dislikes. I thought I might buy one in the near future if I get some good feed back. Thanks.

I don't own one but have turned on 2 of them. In my opinion it's the best mini out there right now. My only dislikes were extremely small and all other minis' have them. I think the tool rest post should be 3/4 instead of 5/8". The locking base of the tailstock should be larger. Those are very minor things and most people would never have problems with them. I'm a bit pickier.
Likes, I love the belt changing system of locks. It works very well. The motor is powerful and the variable speed works well. It will take more than one bed extension of you should desire to try and turn something longer. It's just generally a very nice lathe. If they made them with 1 1/4x8 thread I'd buy one tomorrow. My other lathes are that thread so it would save a lot of headaches. They come with 1"x8 which is what most mini's and a large percentage of other size lathes come with.

I've heard nothing but good things about them. The Jets have a loyal following (including myself), but the Delta is gaining a similarly loyal following. I'd buy one without reservation.

I've had my Delta 46-460 for close to a year now and it's a great machine.Easy to get to everything and runs extreamly smooth and quiet, but my shop burned a while back and it was in there.I'm in the process of salvaging what I can and the Delta is one that will run again. Alot of rust right now but YES it is a GREAT machine. No Cons from me, just good things.
