Lathe issue (Delta 46-460) resolved/replaced

I posted a month or so ago that I was having power issues with my lathe...
Finally got around to taking it to a factory authorized repair facility, and found out that the motor and inverter would need to be replaced...
It was expected to take >2 months for the parts to arrive, so I was told by the repairman that the manufacturer advised returning the machine to the retailer for refund or replacement.
I made the trip today and now own a jet 1220...

I've made numerous glowing posts about this Delta lathe, and was a big fan, until my issues began.
I have nothing but good things to say about the retailer, Rockler of Houston.
They accepted the machine, the accompanying parts, and all the dust it could hold without complaint.
The lathe was a gift(12/10), so I had no receipt.
Thanks guys!

If there are any questions, fire away...
I'll promise an honest conversation.

This in no way indicts Delta or their products, though there seems to be some questions regarding parts availability!

Nice to hear they took care of you.

You know, this seems to be the most reccomended lathe around here yet it also seems to be the one with the most posts here regarding problems. Here I sit with an el cheapo Harbor Freight mini thinking I need to upgrade one day to a Delta. Ive yet to have a single problem out of my HF lathe and have only heard of one member here having a problem.

RRBrown, knottscott and many others were banned, they didn't just leave. They were banned for standing up to the new owners that are destroying this site. Come join us all at woodworking chat, the best new woodworking site on the net!!

I think you will be happy with the Jet 1220, I have had one for about 6 years and have not had a problem. I moved up to a Nova DVR this summer but I won't part with the Jet.

I'm hoping that I don't have a problem with my Delta, because my choices of other lathes here are very limited. I had a heck of a time finding the Delta. My only other choice of any sort of quality was the GI lathe and it seems to be famous for switch issues. Here's hoping that my 46-460 holds up and that I don't have to go through the hassles that you have had to go through. BTW, where the pictures of the new machine. I want to see it.

There is a very fine line between a "hobby" and a "mental illness"

Thanks guys!

As troubling as this may have started out for me, I really came out okay in the end...
I do hope that my problem was a rarity.

The only thing I miss so far is the reverse feature...
It sure helped getting a nice sanded finish!

Kenbo, I've a camera headed my way, should be here next week!
