I laid out the wood many time and sometime sleep on a selection than go back and change my mind. I also play with the thickness and try to imagine how it will display when turned. I had a hard time trying to get the most exposed surface for the redheart. The next thing was to get the best use of the total stack and find the right angle to cut the stack. I laid a 3” block across the lamination and a 3” cutout to get a feel for the correct angle. I was originally planning on 15 degrees but for the exposure of the wood side views I decided on 8 degrees.
