Just how far woud a guy go?

Since I started turning wood I have become a wood scrounge. Anything that is at least big enough to make a pen from is fair game. I pick up sticks and logs and recycle old lumber. So the other day I was using the toilet and admiring the oak seat and lid. Then it hit me. Just how far would a guy go???

Well, I never thought of a toilet seat but hmmmm???

Seriously, I haven't even turned my first pen yet... getting lathe in a few weeks and I have a pile of limbs that fell during our ice storm a few months and ago and just the other day I was telling my wife that I was thinking of cutting them up to "pen" blank size ....

Last weekend we had our city wide rummage sale and I found myself looking at "used furniture" trying to find good wood to turn....

Replacing my grandma's toilet seat a few weeks ago and exactly the same thought struck me. Thought I better not...

I think I'll make some pens from my toilet seat and give them to my boss. That way I'll have a really good laugh every time he uses it . On second thought I think I'll turn a "pacifier" for him to suck on. Not sure what you guys across the pond call those things a baby sucks on.
