First Turned Christmas Gifts

So I thought I'd make use of my lathe and turn some gifts. I'm not tottally satisfied with the end results but I can learn if I don't try!!
Comments, critiscisms and pointers all appreciated and wanted

First are 3 seam rippers for my wife, MiL and niece all sewers (not that need seam rippers).
First one was a pen blank I got from SawDustFactory, not sure what type of wood; 2nd is PurpleHeart; 3rd is another unknow I found under the lathe.
Finished with Walnut Oil and 4 coats of Mylands High Friction Polish

Next up is a set of wineglass for the wife: made 2 with Bloodwood and 1 with PurpleHeart. Was supposed to be 2 PurpleHeart but on the 2nd one I had a blowout on the stem when I got to thin where I had drilled for the stem. Aw well, there is our Anniversary coming up I can try again!

They look great. I like the way the finish looks. Where did you find the wine glasses with just a straight stem? How did you attach them to the wood stem? I really like the look, might make a few for my wife as well.

Wine Glasses Info

Thanks.

Order the 10 oz glasses from CraftsSupply. They carry 3 sizes this was the middle one.

On their instructions they say to drill a hole 3/4" deep but most of the ones I had were all 1 to 1-1/8" long so you need to double check and match turned stems to each glass

I used an epoxy for good solid connection.

Nice work Woodie.
I like the wineglasses. The shape of the stem looks right and the finish looks good also. Keep it up.
