dowel threading question
I have a prototype project wherein I need to thread both ends of 3/4" 3ft dowels. They will be joined by 2.5" couplers.
I have a beall wood threader and tried threading one end , turning it around and threading the other end (sounds simple enough...)
However, that process makes opposite threading and while one end threads fine into a coupler the other end of coupler will not take another dowel, the threads are upside down to the coupler.
(I finally figured this out by studying the threaded rods & couplers you can buy at HD)
The finished dowel should go like this... Thread 1.5", stop threading and move dowel thru threader to within 1.5" of end, restart threading to end of dowel.
I cannot use the Beall woodthreader for this unless I thread the entire dowel. No way to skip over the middle with this tool.
Does any one have any suggestions on another way to accomplish this?
