IN my opinion it is a piece of junk. I know some users have enjoyed it but the few that I have seen are noisy, break down often, the tailstock is hard to slide and adjust and the bed rusts easier than most lathes I've worked on.
Sears is also very bad about getting parts for this lathe. We had one for out club lathe for a year or two and I despised using it for demos. It's just a lousy lathe.
That being said, if you got it cheap enough it will let you turn some things and have fun. It's just not as easy to use as better lathes and if things go bad you may not be able to get parts to fix it.
Get a Rikon or Jet mini lathe and see if you like turning. If you do and want to step up these little lathes have a good resale value.
