Couple more bowls

Here is a couple I finished tonight. The apple was my first try at a natural edge. It was a very small piece of wood. I only ended up with a small bit of natural edge.

Nice job TK,
The natural edge bowls can be a little tricky. One thing you have to do is when you mount the bowl, you have to balance it so the edges that are going to be the natural part are running true (perpendicular to the lathe axis). If the blank is cocked one way or the other, you end up cutting off half of the natural edge. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the replies. I have done a few since. I figure no better way to get out the message. You know everyone that picks up a bowl will look at the bottom. I'm grateful I heard that message one day. I appreciate all the help. Here is a few more I've done. I have almost finished the one on the lathe, it was wet and I decided to wrap it in newspaper to see if it would help the craking and warping.

Nice bowls!! I'm hioping to start turning some or at least attempt to turn some very soon.

I see you have a new Delta lathe. Did you have a problem with the HF lathe?

RRBrown, knottscott and many others were banned, they didn't just leave. They were banned for standing up to the new owners that are destroying this site. Come join us all at woodworking chat, the best new woodworking site on the net!!

The hole on the headstock that lets you hold the headstock and unscrew the faceplate stripped out. I decided to get something better since I enjoyed turning. The delta is like a cadillac compared to the harbor freigth. The harbor freight did the job of turning the wood, but only smaller stuff. The delta had vs and reverse and 1hp motor. I'm very satisified with it.
