Cedar Finish

I have not made momma a bowl yet so with Mother's Day coming up I thought I would make her a cedar bowl. I have not turned any cedar so I don't have a clue what to finish it with. I have on hand WOP, water based polyurethane, and a wax/oil mixture. I don't expect the bowl will be used for anything other than display so food safe is not a question. Of the three I have, which would be best or would you suggest a natural sanded finish?

I'm a fan of WOP, usually about 6 to 8 coats with a light sanding or steel wool between coats.

I want to die quietly in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers of his car.

WOP makes a fine finish if the bowl will be decorative.
Cedar is very fragile and in use will get lots of dings and wear marks. These tend to look better and can be touched up easily with an oil/wax finish. Urethane tends to be hard and will have small finish breaking marks.
Shellac and wax is good on well sanded cedar.
