Box elder peppermill

I made this today, after replacing my 20 year old sump pump and putting up a new set of blinds for my wife. I have a number of box elder blanks that are still green. This one has been hanging around since '07 and felt pretty light when I picked it up. It was dry. This one gave me some fits, very soft wood. Had more tearout than normal. Shear scraping took care of most of it. Pretty fair number of little worm holes too, kinda neat. It's 10" tall.
Mike Hawkins

ps, my sump pump was still working, but its been raining so much around here I figured I better change it before it decides to call it quits.

Very nice!

I would use it for red pepper.

Gorgeous grain and fantastic work once again Mike. Thanks for sharing this one. I love it.

There is a very fine line between a "hobby" and a "mental illness"

I've got to get me some box elder to turn.

That bowl was perfect right up until that last cut...

I thought you were shipping all that ugly wood to Oregon so I could help you dispose of it.
Beautiful work.
