Bowl rest for Nova DVR

I'm still new to bowls, but have rough turned around 15 of them so far and am starting to wonder if it makes sense to invest in a bowl rest instead of trying to angle the straight rest into the interior of the bowl. Seems like I spend a fair amount of time with the gouge sticking far out from the rest.

Any thoughts on the difference a bowl rest makes or any recommendations?

I had one made and it works really well. Much more versatile than the straight rest.
