biggest piece to date

just finished up this guy today and had a blast doing it. Turning the big stuff is nothing like turning smaller things. Felt like Id started all over again. The biggest obstacle for me was figuring out what the lathe could handle and what speeds were right for what phases. Second was getting the form just right. When your used to thinking in a certain size it's a totally different ballgame when you move up in terms of visualizing the form. I have no doubt I did 3 times more staring at it and trying to visualize than I did actual turning. Regardless think it turned out pretty good. Crappy pictures. Tried to cut corners and the finish didnt turn out perfect but lesson learned! Anywho, with no further blather heres a massive hunk o purty purty box elder!!! What would you call this? a box? an urn? happy turnin all,
Bond

Absolutely Gorgeous that's a work of Art. The colors and Grain you couldn't have painted as good as that turned out

That's beautiful bond. That box elder is hot. The turning is smooth and silky.

When it's rustic......it's rustic
