Well its getting near and my time is short, the wife keeps asking for bits for the tree and around the room and something for outside the front door, no clues but started messing with some shapes and see what turns out, first one i done this afternoon when i got back, the pics not great as no light coming in the door to light it up so you don't get the right effect inside. maybe do another few tommorow morn as i have it all free for me. Don't you love a day off. LB  her in doors will want something:smile:

Nice job b. What are them random placed holes on the body? I think I would like the turning better without them. Just my opinion mind you. Mitch
Hi mitch, it does look better in real life, the pic is a bit bigger than it is and the piecings look larger, also no light coming through which makes it better, but im not sure of it myself, just going to have a play around, and was waiting for the paint to dry on my wirleygig as i wanted to get it up on the workshop before the weekend. ill redo the pic tommorow when its daylight and you can see what you think then.
Was the last email okay with the pics.
Good looking ornament. I'm still working on my first ornament of the season. I broke the finial last night and turned another but didn't have time to finish everything. It will probably be saturday or sunday before I get it done.
To me it looks kind of unbalanced, I think it should have a longer finial on the bottom, and a more rounded centre part.
but a nice first attempt, as long as the little lady is happy, that's all that matters.

Hi b. Yes the pictures of the jig were fine and again I want to thank you for helping me out. Haven't done anything with them thou cause I have been quite a bit under the weather all week. Another question if you don't mind b?I saw a video on you tube from a British gentleman named Harry Stuart, I think. His video is on making flowers on the lathe. Slick as can be. I was thinking I would like to make the flowers for bud vases and weed bowls using his method. I could tell you the reason I want to make these but don't want to bore you. Here is my question, b. I read on there that the format on his DVD is in PAL. If I buy it do you think I will be able to open it and did you ever use PAL being as your a British gentleman yourself? Thanks for reading this my friend and good luck. Just read someplace that your a carpenter didn't know that. I did quite a bit of that myself back in the 70's. Had a construction company. Mitch
Hi mitch the ques on PAL working for you, can depend on your player as much as anything, to play an NTSC here if the player is not right you land up with just black and white film, also if you have a region free player. But if you play it on the computer then you would be okay, there are lots of software plays you can get of the internet if you don't have one. glad the jig pics where okay. Funny i was watching a guy on the tube last week making flowers, showd him going cutting the wood from a copise first, interesting. Hope your feeling better now mitch, the 70s i was in London doing shop fitting and being in the dark with electric blackouts all the time, some good times though. LB..
