Another nice-- but Gnarly art piece

Think this is from the last blank cut from one of my Hackberry logs. I was able(whew!) to do kind of a hollow form bowl. Hadn't intended to leave the bottom tenon but the inside structure dictated otherwise. ~ 8.5 x 4 ish. It ought to attract some attention at the next show/market days.
Had originally put it in the discard pile- after the original tenon self destructed--, but then figured a (safe) way to rechuck and reform the bottom.

Everyday--learning to liberate nice things from ordinary chunks of wood
and I like gnarly wood--outcome is always better than the start.

Not gonna hold much water with that

Looks gnarly

Measure Twice Cut Once -- It's a lot easier to cut more off then it is to cut MORON.
Finishing is 3 parts chemistry and 1 part VooDoo http://lrgwood.com

That's awesome....it has a certain worn look to it.

Hackberry is amazing stuff, really. Its trash around here, grows like crazy and good for nothing. Some friends of my inlaws bought a bowl at the Mesquite Art Fair from spalted Hackberry and it was amazing in a very different way. Really cool stuff.
