Another day, another bowl

SO I had some time this morning and decided to get back on the proverbial horse and turn another bowl. No mishaps this time

Yes. I have a guy who works at a furniture shop where they make large slab tables from salvaged trees. He gets me their ends and edges that have all been dried. I get maple, elm, walnut, sycamore? Madrone and probably a few others that I'm forgetting from him.

That bowl was perfect right up until that last cut...

What is that big mark on the outside of the bowl. At first I thought it was ugly, but the more I looked at it the more I liked it. I take it that everything is smooth & it is just an illusion that there is a huge gouge on the side of the bowl. Pretty cool!!

Tony, I think it is the base of a small branch...hard to really see it good in the photo. Maybe one day I'll actually assemble a light box and learn to take better pics

Very nice bowl. I would love it if I could turn something half this nice. Great work.

There is a very fine line between a "hobby" and a "mental illness"
