Aloha from Hawaii. First woodturning forum I've been on but have been making my living hacking rare hawaiian woods for 17 years!

Thanks for the compliments.

Ah, but the eye of the beholder has to see the potential, so maybe you are making the wood look good.

In any event I love your stuff.

Yeah especially with peasant wood. if you get off track you don't get the "feathers". You just barely keep crossing the grain and don't even think about what the shape will be!

Welcome aboard Hacker! That is some beautiful work you have there, I just wish I could have seen some of your work in person.

I just returned home this morning from a two week vacation in Maui (stayed at the Sheraton at Black Rock) and I was really impressed by all the woodturners and other craftsment on the island. I lucked out and got to watch some craftsmen carve/build some canoes and other crafts while I was there, as the annual International festival of canoes was taking place last week in Lahaina. I didn't get the opportunity to get over to Molokai or Lanai however.
Aloha,
Mark

Hacker,

Glad to have you aboard.

Ran into your website a while back, very impressive, both the turning and the location.
