almost had it...

A 3520B was on Craiglist about 30 minutes away from me, I emailed with the guy had negotiated the price and talked about a time to come and get it.

Being that it was the 4th of July I was busy all weekend, Tuesday morning I send him a text message about wanting to come get it. No reply... so a few hours later I call him and left a message. Then go back and look at the number on the ad and realized that I called the wrong number!! So I hurry up and call the right number and he tells me that someone will be there any minute to look at it and he'll call me if he doesn't buy it.

Long story short, I missed it! If only I had called the right number a few hours early or made a special trip early one morning I would have a giant lathe (compared to my Mini lathe).

So the lesson here is don't walk on those deals you see... run! Guess this one just wasn't in the cards for me this time.

Bummer

You can never have too much pepperoni on your pizza or own too many clamps.

I've actually been in my car on the way to pick up a drill press 30 miles away when the guy called saying someone beat me to it. I feel your pain, but there are always more deals out there.

I want to die quietly in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers of his car.

I feel for you man. I've won some and lost some myself. Someone here suggested http://www.searchtempest.com/ which I've used to find things I wouldn't have otherwise. Keep at it. The right one's out there!

a friend knew I was looking for a large compressor. He found one at a yard sale. A lady had lost her husband and was selling all his equipment. My friend called and asked if I wanted it. I told him yes so he told the lady we would be there in the morning to buy it. We got there and she had already sold it to the first guy that drove up.
On the plus side as I was going through all the equipment I got a radial arm saw, a horizontal bandsaw, a Lincoln welder, a sears router Crafter, and a handful of smaller tools all for a really good price.

I know you what you mean. I recently missed a Jet 1014 lathe for $200. Thought I'd mull it over for a day, and *POOF!* it was gone.

Now that sucks. Next time I would head over there if it were midnight.

Yea, I dragging my feet becuase it was still more then I was ready to just drop right then, but I'll never pay $4k for it new. So unless I find another one I suppose I'll keep my eye on that 18" guy at Grizzly.
