Alignment problem?????

Hello, I have a new Record Power CL3 Lathe, and it's working fine, apart from one thing. I turned a Light Pull & used the Drill Chuck to drill for the cord. The drill starts off OK , but goes off centre when it get's to the other end, i thought the Head Stock was off Centre, but it's not. The Light Pull is 45mm long, and it's off centre by 3mm when drilled.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on, because i can't work this one out?????

Many Thanks.

Could be the drill bit, dull bits tend to wander, bent drill bits do it too!
If you are not clearing chips often bits wander. So take little more time and back out drill bit every 3 mm vice every 6 mm to clean bit.

+1 to what wildwood said. Drill bits wander, especially when making longer holes. Sometimes the grain of the wood will steer it off course also.

That bowl was perfect right up until that last cut...

In addition to what others said. I would add to drill the hole before you turn the shape and then use it with your centers.

I agree with NCPaladin drill the hole before you turn the shape and then use it with your centers.
