2 small bowls

I just wanted to post these to keep the turning forum active! These 2 bowls came from a block of Mahogany, I added a 1/2" strip of cherry for fun.

I have a bad habit of leaving the transition from the side of the bowl to the bottom of the bowl too thick.... but on these I went too thin in that area so I had to thin out the tops to match. The wall thickness ended up being less then 1/4"... so I had to keep the tool sharp! But in the end they turned out ok... just a little more time to make them perfect.

Nice job. I find it interesting how those really show up the mahogany grain very accurately. What's the diameter, about 6" ?

Looking good DV,
I like the racing stripe. Next one put two stripes in and make it a supersport. SS.

Ha, sounds like something that I would do.

You know the strips make it go faster.
