Wood Joint

Saw this wood joint and thought it might be of interest to others. New to me but probably not to the more experienced.

It might look neat but structurally it isn't that great. Where the tenon is notched would just break off if it were put under any stress. The joint doweled would be stronger.

It would probably look interesting is 3 different types of wood were used. If just one type of wood I think it would just look busy.

You're right Steve but still looks cool. The other issue with this joint is probably wood movement that may cause splitting.
