They would all be strong enough, I am amazed why good woodworkers worry so much about glue.

I have changed direction here for the time being. I think it will be an easier sell to the powers that be (at work) if I make a platform on the top of my current desk that I can put the keyboard/mouse and monitors on. I need about 12" lift.

True to form, the cheapskate in me has taken over and I am using paint stirrers for the legs. I am going to plane them and stain them in my first attempt to actually make it look nice. For the top, I am planning to by a nice piece of 24x48 3/4" ply, and I'll edge it with something like stained poplar to give it a nice 2-color look. Something like this:

You will need to add some sort of apron, or it will bow/sag badly.

OK, really cheap out using this method

3 separate pieces of 3/4" with dados under neath the top will make a "riser" as shown on top of this desk unit:

The answer to your question will only be as detailed and specific as the question is detailed and specific. Good questions also include a sketch or a photo that illustrates your issue. (:< D)

My boss just told me to order a varidesk and be done with it. He has one, and it looks like it will do what I am looking for, and it is $300, which won't break the company's bank.
