When making raised panel doors, how much should I cut from the panel to allow for expansion if using space balls?

Don't the instructions for Space Balls say 1/8" for each side? When first assembled, the balls should be just snug. Then the expansion/contraction will be absorbed by the balls.

Added thought. Fully finish (both sides and all surfaces) of the raised panels prior to assembling them into the rails and stiles of the doors. This will help reduce wood movement of the panels later on.
