Need clamp advice

Total newbie to woodworking here. I have to join the two pieces of a reclaimed bench in the photo below. I have the clamps but I can't figure out how to manage them. The edges are curved and just won't support the clamps I have. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Wrap it with a bicycle inner tube or masking tape would hold it together or some spring clamps

There is no app for experience

Electrical tape stretches .....

Something you probably have in the shop is electrical tape. If you wrap the pieces they will get tighter and tighter with each wrap because the tape stretches if you pull gently on it. And it will keep the pieces from shifting because it's also sticky.......

The answer to your question will only be as detailed and specific as the question is detailed and specific. Good questions also include a sketch or a photo that illustrates your issue. (:< D)
