mortise and tenon

quick question. Im building a table with 3 inch legs, how deep should i make the mortise? i was thinking an inch? also should i pin them? i know these are simple questions but im new to this lol

Where's the mortise? Cross pieces into the legs? Into the top?

The tools don't make the craftsman....

I'd go 1.25-1.5 inches. I went 1.25 on my 2.75 inch legs....and the thing would have held together without glue.

The tools don't make the craftsman....

I typically go half the distance. Definatley glue it.

Oh glue it for sure...just saying right deep mortises are sturdy
