Making doors with the Kity 635

Hi

Sorry the title says 635, should be 535.

I need to make some pairs of doors from Sweet Chestnut for external use. It will involve rebating and ovolo moulding amongst other things. Would the Kity 535, which at lot of you will know is a combination setup of planer, circular saw and spindle moulder be man enough for the job? I have the use of it and just need to be sure before starting.

many thanks

Cliff

All the kity would do is mill the wood and make the molding. What kind of joint did you have in mind for the doors. The doors would have to have mitered joints as the kity wouldn't be able to do the coping for the coping and sticking if that joint was desired. The kity won't be able to do the job without an investment. You would have to but a set of molding knives to machine the door stiles.

It's European machine

It should be able to do any woodworking operation such as making the rails and stiles for doors with the proper shaper cutters. Also known as a spindle molder.

The answer to your question will only be as detailed and specific as the question is detailed and specific. Good questions also include a sketch or a photo that illustrates your issue. (:< D)

That's interesting, I'm getting a different machine for Kity 535.

Thanks

I have the cutters for the spindle molder part of the machine. I am assuming then that the belt driven spindle molder would do the rebating as well as the moulding? Sweet Chestnut can be hard.
