Ideas from a newcomer
My intro is here too. I am a 55 year old window cleaner near Denver, Co. I have a particle board box with a ladder in my 150 van on which I have a turntable and a 4 ft. wide piece of wood on which I am going to put 8 2x2ft piece of pegboard vertically with charcoal packing foam on one side and the peg board on the other for tools. I will have on the vertical surfaces 64 sf of area for tools on this turntable.
One idea I had to share and get feedback on was that my pegboard will fit in a groove cut into a piece of redwood 2 x 2 inch deck spindle. I was thinking a good way to make the groove the right press fit for the board would be to make a cut then add a cardboard shim the right thickness to make the second cut give you the right width for the slot. I want it to hold snug but not be to hard to press in. This is not easy to get by trial and error.
Regarding this groove to hold the 2x2ft sheet both vertical and across the base, I am thinking about 1/2 inch deep, would it not help to put maybe 1 or 2 degrees angle into one of the cuts to make the board find the slot easy but then snug up a little as it went in deeper.
Thanks for listening.
