Dovetails (pin & tail) issues

Good evening. I received a dovetail jig for my birthday and have been playing with it for a while. Here is the problem. My pins are much larger than the tails? I have set it up according to the instructions and multiple YouTube videos. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Mark

What jig is it you're using mate? If it's a router jig then you can play with setting it up a bit to get it set properly. If it's a hand one then your marks are probably off.

Double check your bushing selection.

It is a wood stock jig with 1/2 inch by 14 degree dovetail bit. I do have the half inch bushing in there as it is a half inch comb on The Jig. I set the depth of the bit and 9/16 or 19/32 and what is happening is the pins are too big to actually fit in the tails

I'm not familiar with that jig, but the Woodstock website says the jig, "requires a 7/16" guide bushing (Listed below) and 1/2" 14į Dovetail router bit (DC1069 or similar)."

Maybe try with a different bushing and see if that corrects the problem.

Scott you were correct for some reason I must have missed that and I installed the 7/16 bushing. I made the cut and then measured the tails and they measure just under 1/2 inch. The pins are measuring 5/8?
