another breadboard question

If I use a mortise tenon design for the breadboard, as I understand it, only the center is glued, the others are free to move. Being glued only in the center will the breadboard withstand the load when it is used to lift and move the table?

You make everything fit very snug and make the tenon longer than if it was a glued joint. Once assembled you shouldn't be able to tell the joint isn't fully glued.

But will that be strong enough to support lifting the table?

If you are worried lift the table from the sides, there are too many variables involved to give a definite answer.
