aluminum tenon glue strips
Years ago I used an aluminum strip when regluing the loose joints on a chair. It was a strip about 3/8 wide by about 2 inches long and it would be wrapped around the tenon portion of the joint to make a more smug fit between the mortise and the tenon, plus the slag on the holes helped to keep the pieces together until the glued dried. The holes were punched through from both sides. The holes were not drilled, but punched so as to leave slag on the back side of the hole. I ran out of them long ago and now need them again but I am having an impossible time finding them. The descriptive term I used may be incorrect, but the end result is the same. I can't think of anything commercially available that I can make them out of. Does anyone have some advice for me?
