I haven't really done much in forums before, but am interested in the discussions. Perhaps, i can help from time to time.

Welcome. Wood carvers are an uncommon lot here. I had expected more.

I use mostly western red cedar as I live in the middle of it.
I use Pacific Northwest First Nations style adzes and crooked knives most of the time.
I buy blades and build up most of the tools.

Just carvings in the round, rarely relief.

Welcome to the forum, Randy! When you get a minute complete your profile with location so it shows in the side panel. You can add your name to your signature line and it will show in each post.

Got any photos of your carvings you can share with us? We like pictures of project, tools, shops, etc.

WOW! That's fantastic detail and a vivid imagination, very creative. Thanks for posting. Ok, we'll take some more...

I assume you sell these; locally or do you have an online presence? How long do these take to complete, on average?

Like the others said, WOW!!!!! Beautiful work all of them. I guess you sell your work so is there any where I can see more of it and maybe see whats available for purchase?

Mike
Everything i build comes with a redneck warranty. If it breaks you get to keep both pieces.

Yes to all. I have a website: www.madcarver.com & all the major social Media. I also recently launched www.patreon.com/madcarver. Everything I create is for sale. Finally. Each project's time to complete is different, but something like the eagle took around 1.5 weeks & the goblin took 3 months..

Good website, Randy, and a lot of great carvings to ponder. Which is your preferred wood for carving? My assumption is that it's Basswood, but then I'm not a carver. I don't see glue lines so you must have a source for large pieces of dried wood or do you mill and dry that for yourself?

Thanks. Basswood is my go to, but the previous 2 were birch. I've used Basswood, butternut, and birch. Actually, this piece is two blocks glued together and most of my pieces are blocks done this way. I'm a lumber yard buyer..
