Jesus face warping?

My ? is... If I seal one side of a wood carving will the wood warp away from the sealed side or toward the sealed side. Once I get help with this? If I have sealed one side, and the warp straightens out ? then I seal the other side,? will the warp be controled

It's going to warp regardless of what you do unless the back side is thick enough you can deeply cut into it. The warp is caused because the side with the carving was cut into weakening that side and the pressure from the back side is expanding. The only thing you could do and it wouldn't be permanent would be to heat the back side until the wood was really dry and seal it. Then wet the side with the carving with water to make it swell. Eventually the moisture content on the carving side would return to normal and the warp would come back.

the size, shape, type of wood, where it is displayed, yada yada yada
will get you more accurate feedback. also, photos of your item in question will help.
I have made thousands of hand carved wood signs for outside use
and some of them warped before I learned to put as many coats of finish
on all sides equally. a finish on just one side is asking for a heartbreak.
