Can I carve these woods?
I finally have access to some great looking greenwood, The supplier is selling Apple, Curly cherry birch, and black cherry burl. I've been wanting to carve spoons and kuksa mug/bowls for over a year now, Are these woods good for hand carving?

Also, the wood is extremely fresh, how long would I need to wait before carving it?

The supplier has already sealed the edges so it won't split.

If carving by hand, you will find all of those woods way too hard for hand carving. Being green, when they do dry they will split even if the edges are sealed.

Is there any way you can soften the wood so that you can easily carve it ?
Ive read someting about steam, im worried about whether it will attract the mold ?

I have read that the wood can be soften but I don't remember the process.
