Smile Software Engineer from Oregon

Hey Everyone,

I've lurked these forums for a few months now, but decided it was time to step up to the plate and register since I have a ton of projects on the horizon at home that I'll likely need a bit of guidance on as time marches forward.

My wife and I are both relatively new to woodworking. We recently finished a 5 week class on table joinery and both managed to turn out some pretty sweet looking furniture. The class inspired us to go all out at home, having invested in a number of decent quality tools (table saw, joiner, planer, fixed/plunge router, bunch of clamps of various kinds, pocket hole jig, and a bunch of other small goodies like speed squares, etc...).

I've completed an additional 1.5 projects at home so far but will keep those posts separated in different threads as to avoid confusion .

Looking forward to getting to know the members on the forum here! Below is a picture I took of my stool I put together in the class (all joints are mortis and floating tenon, top fastened on with table top fasteners).

welcome to the forum ... nice stool. I see you're a SketchUp affictionado; you'll fit right in here.

You can never have too much pepperoni on your pizza or own too many clamps.

Welcome to the forums. That is a very strong looking stool. Personally, I would round off the seat edges for comfort.

When I built that stool the class was pretty rushed, but it's on my list to take a 220 grit with a block to the edges. As for sturdiness, the stool feels rock solid - zero movement / joint noise of any kind, so I was quite thrilled with the end result.
